Sterling Rose was chosen as a Herdsire for his exceptional fineness at 14.1 microns! Currently he is five years old, and fineness is holding at 17.7 microns! EPD top 1% leader trait!
According to Yocom McColl, the average huacaya has a mean curvature of 33.2 degrees per millimeter. Finer fiber diameter is often associated with a higher mean curvature. The greater the number of degrees per millimeter, the finer the crimp. Sterling’s mean curvature is 62.5 deg/mm, which means finer fiber!
Needing to add in Crimp? Extreeme High Frequency Crimp, Sterling has 62 crimps per inch! Sterling is virtually unmatched in particular traits for color, his offspring will be at the top of the percentiles!

Fineness is holding at an extraordinary rate and showing all positive fleece characteristics at this age. Sterling Rose has currently produced a male cria named Tambopata in the 13 micron range. This herdsire is rated number 4 in the EPD program for SDMC of 2.77 , note all other males in the top five are white presently identifying Sterling Rose as the TOP colored Herdsire in North America for this particular trait.

Sterling Rose is a medium brown herdsire loaded with prepotent genetics on both sides of his extraordinary pedigree. His Sire Snowmass Sterling Legend is a true black herdsire known for holding his fineness and transfers these exceptional fleece characteristics into his offspring. At four years of age he was in the 15 micron range and was sold to a breeder located in Germany.
